#NotMyAriel Seriously?

Okay, I don’t think it is a surprise to anyone when I say that I love Disney movies. I grew up with them, I still frequently watch them as an adult. But.

I, as an adult, am now very much aware that Disney movies are by no means unproblematic afternoon entertainment for the kiddos (or the grownups) that you can just turn on for them and that’s that. Disney and Disney’s storytelling is sometimes very problematic and I believe that should be reflected on when watching these movies. To learn from it.

Rising up to the challenge. And I want you on my team!

Walkers wanted for the Ultra Challenge on the Isle of Wight in May 2020.

Sometimes you come across an idea. You like that idea but you don’t fully explore it then and there. You go on about your day. But the idea keeps coming back into your mind. And it still keeps coming back the next day. And the next. And when that happens, I think it’s time to just run with it. Continue reading “Rising up to the challenge. And I want you on my team!”

Caravan Camping and Motorhome Show Birmingham NEC 2019

A very delayed reflection.

On the last weekend of February, we ventured out to Birmingham to visit the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show in the NEC. Having great fun with backpacking, camping and glamping already, we have been toying with the idea of a home on wheels for quite a while now. So we booked ourselves tickets to the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show. It was the first time for us to go to a motorhome expo and so we got quite excited to see some of the vehicles up close to get a feel for layouts and sizes. In this article, I describe what Disneybounding was like, not what Disney was like in general – if you are interested in that, have a look at the respective post that is coming soon. Continue reading “Disneybounding Part III”

How not to be inspired and something about chocolate

Inspiration is an odd thing. Just like motivation, it is powerful when it’s there but it is also fragile and fleeting. Whilst I generally believe that we should never rely on inspiration to get us closer to our goals – as habit, strategy and planning will get us much further much faster – it is certainly nice to have a little extra spark. So I went to seek out that inspiration boost. And failed. Continue reading “How not to be inspired and something about chocolate”

Honouring Life – The realization that everybody’s time is limited

We all feel down sometimes. Stuff happens. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball. We feel all the feels, sometimes for a reason and sometimes for no good reason at all. Moments like that, as random as they are, have the potential to carry some pretty interesting realisations. My life’s latest curveball had me re-thinking one of the most basic realisations in life – time is limited. Continue reading “Honouring Life – The realization that everybody’s time is limited”

2018 Year of Books – Part Two: The books I’d like to read before the year ends

I cannot believe that everybody is talking about how 2018 is coming to a close, how it is only a matter of days until my Christmas decorations will come out and that it is almost time to set intentions for 2019. But that time tends to fly is nothing new or surprising, so let’s make the last two months of 2018 as amazing as we can – maybe with a good read!
